The thick chir and deodar forests blanking its ridges offer an enchanting sight. The climate is temperate with pleasant summers and extremely cold winters. Various tourist festivals are conducted here by the tourist department of the State Government.

Nearest railhead is the Kathua Railway Station. Regular buses connect Dhar Mahanpur with Kathua (87 km), the administrative headquarters of the district.
