Indian Darter



Indian Darter (Anhinga melanogaster) is a scarce breeding resident. The bird can be easily identified by its yellowish dagger like bill and the long snake like neck. Locally called Panwa or Banbe, it is found in the wetlands of Haryana. The bird mainly feeds on fish. It is also called Snake Bird.

Indian Darter can be seen in the Chitrangudi Bird Sanctuary, Tamil Nadu.
