IndiaAmalki Ekadashi
Amalki Ekadashi is a festival celebrated on the eleventh day of the Shuklpaksh (waxing moon) of Phalgun month. During the festival, the Amla tree (the Indian gooseberry tree) is worshipped by the devotees. According to myth, the Amla tree is sacred to Lord Vishnu. On the festival day, devotees get up early in the morning and water the tree after ablutions. Besides, gifts are distributed to the Brahmins. Amalki Ekadashi also indicates the beginning of the colorful festival of Holi.
