This university has 224 affiliated colleges and 14 recognised institutions and its jurisdiction is spread over in the districts of Ahmedabad, Panchmahals, Sabarkantha, Banaskantha, Vadodara, Mehsana and Kutch. Courses are offered in the fields of arts, science, commerce and law. Scholarships, fellowships and research facilities are the other facilities offered. Hostels are available.

Academic year comprises two terms. The first term is from June to October and second term is from November to April.
