Mahamandapa

Mahamandapa is a large enclosed hall in front of the main shrine, often with interior pillars and lateral window projections. Mahamandapa in Sanskrit means "great hall". It is the main assembly hall in the temple where devotees gather for ceremonies and group prayer. In many temples, the ceilings and pillars of the mahamandapa are beautifully carved.
