Little Egret



Little Egret (Egretta garzetta) is a small white heron with attractive white plumes on crest, back and chest. It has black legs and bill and yellow feet.

It is a wetland bird with a preference for lowland shallow waters, especially along coasts and estuaries. It nest communally, often alongside the nests of other herons and associated wetland species.

The bird feeds on a variety of animals such as insects, frogs, fishes and reptiles.

Little Egret can be seen in the Chitrangudi Bird Sanctuary, Tamil Nadu.
