Saga Dawa Festival




Saga Dawa is a festival celebrated by the Monpa tribes in Tawang District of Arunachal Pradesh. This event falls in the month of May and is associated with Buddha's birth, enlightenment and nirvana.

During this month, the Monpas abstain from eating meat, fish and egg. People visit temples and make offerings to nuns and monks with the aim to earn merits.
