Karu




Located on the Ladakh border, Karu is a small settlement in Leh District of Jammu and Kashmir. It is about 30 km from Leh – the district headquarters. The place is famous for a giant praying wheel. Another attraction of the place is Karu Gompa.

Pangong Lake can be easily accessed from here, as the road from Leh towards this lake diverts from Karu. Karu is on the trekking or biking tour route from Rumtse to Leh.

One can approach Karu through Changla Pass from Durbuk.
