Kartse Valley is in Kargil District of Jammu and Kashmir. The valley goes deep into the eastern mountains and a large number of isolated villages lie within its range. There is an ancient village Kartse-Khar near the valley. A 7 m tall rock sculpture of the Buddha is the major attraction here. The
Kartse River, which rises from the Rangdum Pass, flows through this region.
