Gori-Ganga Valley



Gori Valley, also known as Gori-Ganga Valley, is in Pithoragarh District of Uttaranchal. There are many trekking routes along the Gori Valley, including Munsiyari to Milam, Namik and Ralam glaciers and an ancient trading route to Tibet, the Johar Valley. Hence it is known as a trekking paradise. The valley holds the entire Himalayan plant species from sub tropical Sal to Alpine meadows. A wide variety of bird species, including more than 45% of the breeding bird species of the Western Himalayas and nearly 55% of breeding bird species of the Kumaon Himalayas have been recorded in this valley. The valley forms a part of Askot Wild Life Sanctuary and Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve.
