Dirang Fort

Dirang Fort, also known as Jong, is in West Kameng District of Arunachal Pradesh. The fort was built at Dirang in 1831. Located in a scenic river valley, it is an important historical monument of the Monpas of Dirang. The fort was an important center of public administration and also represents the authority of the king. It was also the center of military and judicial activities.

The fort is two-storied, built of huge stones and wooden logs. The gate leading to the fort is a wooden one, decorated with architectural designs. The fort is a four stage fortified building, where the villagers could take refuge at the time of war.

The nearest airport is Tezpur Airport, Assam.
