Canadian High Commission in India has been set up to extend routine and emergency requirements of Canadian citizens residing or in transit in India, apart from ensuring their overall security and welfare whilst in the country. It also plays a major part in harnessing and protecting mutual interests in the areas of politics, economic and trade relations, immigration, development assistance, public affairs, consular relations, and defense, police and security relations. The High Commission is located at
Chanakyapuri, the diplomatic enclave of
New Delhi.
The consulates at Mumbai, Chennai, Chandigarh, Bangalore and Kolkata compliment the efforts of the High Commission in the conduct of Canada's relationship with India.
Indira Gandhi International Airport is 15 km to the north-west of Chanakyapuri. The Canadian High Commission is about 10 km to the south-west of New Delhi Railway Station and is around 12 km from the Interstate Bus Stand at Kashmiri Gate.
