Ayavanteeswarar Temple is located at Tiruchaattamangai near
Mayiladuthurai. It is 11 km to the east of
Nannilam. Built by Chola King Karikalan, the temple houses the bhramma theertham tank. Covering an area of one acre, the temple has a five tiered rajagopuram. It also has two
prakarams and the inner sanctum is built with black stones. Aavani Moolam in the month of Leo is the main festival.
