The district of Hamirpur in

and Jalaun in the west. The population is about 1 million spread over 4,098 sq km of land area.
The Yamuna and Betwa are the major rivers and other rivers include Dhasan, Barma, Ken, Chadraval and Pandwaha. A maximum temperature of 43ºC is observed during May and at the beginning of June. Winter starts from mid-November and lasts till February. The crops produced include rice, gram, wheat, barley, peas, masoor and bajra.
