Katni




Katni, known as the city of lime, is an ancient city of Madhya Pradesh. It is also known as Mudwara and has the fame of having the biggest Diesel loco shed and wagon repairs shop of the Indian railways. The city is one of the major rail junctions of India and is a leading trade center in Katni District. Katni is around 120 km north-east of Jabalpur. The Vijayraghavgarh historical fort, a major tourist attraction, is 33 km away. There are a number of historical places around the town including Bahoriband, Bilhary, Panagar, Jhinjhari and Tigavan. The nearest airport is Jabalpur Airport. Katni Junction Railway Station is a major railhead in India. National Highway 7 passes nearby the city.
