Surrounded by hills and lakes, Dharwad lies east of the
Western Ghats and is 420 km north of Bangalore. Together with Hubli - a city 22 km away - Dharwad forms a twin city. A famous educational center, Dharwad houses two renowned universities namely the Karnataka University and the University of Agricultural Sciences.
