Brahmaputra, Lohit, Buri Dehing, and Dibru are the major rivers. Tinsukia is an industrial district, yet it produces a sizeable amount of tea, oranges, ginger, citrus fruits, and paddy. Majority of the population are cultivators and agricultural workers.
