Along, the administrative headquarters of
West Siang District, is an old town situated at the confluence of Sipu and Siyom rivers in
Arunachal Pradesh. The place, nestled in a wide-open valley against the backdrop of snow-capped mountains, is a favorite tourist destination in the north-east as well.
Pasighat is around 70 km east of Along.
Places of tourist interest include Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Dayani Polo Temple and Akashiganga Falls (25 km). Mithun and Jersey cross breeding farm at Kamki, 25 km from here, is another place worth visiting.
Itanagar is 335 km south-west of Along. Along has a non-operational airport. Nearest airport is Lilabari Airport. Closest railhead is at Silapathar. Accommodations are available at Circuit House and Inspection Bungalow.
