East Singhbhum District




East Singhbhum District is situated at the extreme corner of Jharkhand. The district headquarters is Jamshedpur. It has a total geographical area of 3,533 sq km. East Singhbhum has temperate climate, deciduous type of forest and sound socio-economic conditions. It is dominated by the tribal population.

Important minerals are iron ore, copper, uranium and gold kynite. Tata Iron and Steel Company (TISCO) and Tata Electric and Locomotive Company (TELCO) are the major big industries. Tinplate Company, Indian Cable Company, Indian Copper Corporation and Indian Tube Company are the other industries. Sharhul, Chait-Ganjan, Ind-Karam, Bandna and Makar or Tusu Parab are important festivals. Visitors enjoy Jublee Park, TATA Zoological Park, Bhuvaneswari Temple, Dimna Lake, Kankadhasa (Dalma), Lawajoda Temple, Budha-Bidhi Hill, Harina Shiva Temple and Kanhaiswar Mountain.
