Utterbehni River

Utterbehni River, (also Devika River), is one among the few rivers in the world flowing towards the north. The river is considered almost as sacred as the Ganges River and flows through Jammu city in Jammu and Kashmir.

Legend says that, the river originated at the Gauri Kund on the orders of Lord Shiva to prize the land to Sage Kashyap.

Utterbehni, literally means 'the river that flows northward', is about 43 km from Jammu.

Lakshmi Narayan Temple and Sudh Mahadev Temple are situated on the banks of this holy river.
