Thookupalam

Thookupalam is a commercial center located about 10 km from Nedumkandam in Idukki District. The place is associated with the great epic of India, the Mahabharata. It is believed that the Pandavas, during their sojourn in the forest, had passed through this place and rested at Kattilu Kallu. The temple, Koompanpara Temple, where they prayed on that occasion, is also situated here. Ramakalmedu, Pushpakandom, Kallar and Cumbum Mettu are the nearby attractions.

Thookupalam can be reached by buses that ply on the Kumily-Nedumkandam or Kattappana-Nedumkandam route. Lodging facilities are available at Nedumkandam.
