Thapotsavam

Thapotsavam, a popular festival, is celebrated at Ananthapuram Lake Temple in Ananthapuram of Kasargod District. It is a one day festival and falls on the fifth day after Vishu in the Malayalam month of Medam. On this day, the idol of Shri Padmanabha - the presiding deity of the temple - is carried in a ceremonial procession along the lake adjoining the temple. The highlight of the festival is Yakshaganam - one of the earliest folk theater forms of Andhra Pradesh.
