Taapu Dance




Taapu is a traditional form of war dance performed by the Adi Tribe in Arunachal Pradesh. The theme of the dance is based on the struggle of Tani (man) with his enemies for existence. Tani was saved by divine protectors, Doying Bote and Kiine Naane, appointed by Gumin Soying. On the advice of the divine protectors Tani performed Taapu dance in order to drive out the evils.
