Sulakkal

Sulakkal is a place situated about 32 km away from Ukkadam on Coimbatore - Pollachi Road. The name of this place derived from the Amman who stood with trishul in that place. It is said that the place was a dense forest and to save the villagers from dangerous animals and harmful insects Sulakkal Mariamman stood there. Thus a temple, Sri MariAmman and Vinayagar Temple, was erected by the villagers for the Amman.

Buses ply from Ukkadam to Sulakkal. The main railheads are at Pollachi and Coimbatore.
