Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Vidyalayam




The Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Vidyalayam, Saidapet, was established in 1980 by founder and Principal Sri G N Desikan. The vidyalayam has 24 years of musical service. The students in the vidyalayam are taught vocal music starting from the beginning and the classes are divided into groups based on the studentís standards. Strict discipline is also observed in the vidyalayam, such as regular attendance, wearing kumkum, and getting signature from parents for practicing music in the home daily. The vidyalayam has so far taught music to over 2000 students since 1980. Mridangam classes were also held at the vidyalayam for nearly 20 years under the supervision of Mridangam vidwan Nagai Sri S Soundara Rajan.
