Satyavageeswarar Temple




Satyavageeswarar Temple is located at Anbil near Lalgudi, Tiruchirappalli District. The highlights are the five-tiered Rajagopuram and the two prakarams. The deity of the temple is Satyavageeswarar (Lord Shiva). The Goddess, Soundara Nayaki, is faces the east. The temple holds the image of Lord Vishnu flanked by Surya and Chandra. Stone images and inscriptions that date back to the Chola and Hoysala periods are found in the temple. At the front of the sanctum is the mandapam with lots of sculptural work. The temple can be accessed from Lalgudi.
