Palak Wildlife Sanctuary




Palak Wildlife Sanctuary lies in the Lakher region of Champhai District, on the southern part of Mizoram. It is situated about 130 km southwest of Saiha town. The sanctuary has an area of 15.50 sq km which includes tropical evergreen and moist deciduous forests. The important wild animals that are found in the sanctuary are elephant, sambar, barking deer, leopard, rhesus macaque and varieties of birds. Nearby there is a lake called Palak Lake, which plays an important role in maintaining the eco-system of the region.
