Muruga Temple is located at
Ettukkudi which is 23 kilometers from
Tiruvarur on the
Thanjavur-
Nagapattinam route. The deity here is known as Somaskandar. Legend tells us that here
Lord Muruga takes the form of a typical warrior-cum-hero on his peacock. This form was taken to destroy the demon, Surapaduman. The temple also contains the shrines for Idumban and Kadamban. The temple is surrounded by many small shrines of Iyyanar, Mariamman,
Draupadi and Kali.
