Lakulish Temple

Lakulish Temple is located at Kayavarohan in Vadodara District of Gujarat. It is about 29 km from Vadodara. This is an ancient temple which dates back over 1000 years and is dedicated to Lord Shiva, known here as Lord Lakulish. Lord Shiva is worshipped here in the form of Jyotirlinga. Goddess Parvati, the divine consort of the deity, is seen behind the main idol. It is also surrounded by goddesses and apsaras.

Most noteworthy feature of the shrine is that the idol of the deity is made of meteorite stone, unlike the common sandstone idols installed in other temples. On the walls of the temple there are carvings from Sanskrit texts of Hindu scriptures and even pictures of Swami Kripalvanand demonstrating asana and mudras.

Lakulish Temple can be approached from Vadodara by road. Kayavarohan Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
