Khaliapali

Khaliapali is the principal religious center of the ‘Mahima’ cult, the only major religious sect that has originated in Orissa. The place is famous for the monastery of Bhima Bhoi, the famous blind poet. The festival of Magha Chaturdasi is celebrated here with great pomp and pageantry like in Joranda in Dhenkanal District.

Khaliapali is around 25 km from Sonepur. Sonepur is connected by regular bus services from Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur and other places.
