Kampil

Also known as Kampilya



Kampil is a village in Kasgunj tehsil of Farrukhabad District, situated on the banks of the Ganges. Originally known as Kampilya, it was the capital of King Drupad, father of Draupadi. It was here that Draupadi is said to have married the Pandavas. The village is considered sacred by the Jains as well. Kampil is birthplace of the 13th Tirthankar Vimalnath. The place was also visited by Lord Mahavir. There are a number of ruins of Jain structures in and around Kampil. Every year, a Jain festival, Kampil Fair is held here for five days in the month of March.
