Jain Naughra Temple

Jain Naughra Temple is situated at Chandni Chowk, the bustling marketplace of Old Delhi. This ancient temple is dedicated to Jain Tirthankar, Sumtinath. The entrance of the temple, decorated with teak doors and pillars on both sides, has a small hall. Idol of another Jain Tirthankar, Parshavnath, is placed on a marble pedestal on the right leading to the main hall. The temple courtyard contains 16 carved marble pillars flanked by corridors on all sides. Quaint glass tiles adorn the central area of the building which also allows ample light inside the temple. The marble idol of the presiding deity is adorned with a golden crown consisting of precious and semi-precious gems. There are idols of other Tirthankars too. The gallery contains 35 panels of multi-color glass mosaics that present the main events in the life of the 24th Tirthankar, Mahavir.
