Situated about 80 km from Srinagar - the capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Gaoran is a small village in Anantnag District. It is at an altitude of 8,904 ft from the sea level.
Gaoran is surrounded by Chhatargul (9 km) to the west, Rikinwas (28 km) to the north, Baryinnar (17 km) to the east and Qasba Naubug (7 km) to the south.
