Deodar



Deodar trees are found to exist at an altitude of 5000 to 7000 ft above sea level. It is widely found in Chakrata and the Tons valley of Uttarkashi District. Deodar is a tall coniferous tree used for house construction, as also for paneling. Individual trees may attain a height of over 35 m and a diameter of over 110 cm. Its wood is much prized. Ancient temples in the region are found to have had used Deodar beams in their construction.
