Chennur is located in Cuddapah District and is 6 km north of Cuddapah. National Highway 18 has its route through Chennur.

Chennur is noted for its diamond deposits. Bhagwan Mahavir Museum, Gandikota Fort, Masjid-e-Azam and Sri Chennakesava Swami Temple are interesting sites in the vicinity.
