Canning is a small town in South 24 Parganas District of West Bengal, about 64 km from Kolkata. The town is also called the gateway of Sundarban, from where one can reach the Sunderbans, the world’s largest estuarine delta formed by the confluence of three rivers.

There is a railway station which is well connected with suburban trains from Kolkata. The nearby attractions include Gosaba and Sajnakhali.
