Bullock Festival




Bullock Festival, celebrated at Bhuban in Dhenkanal District, has a special characteristic in the cultural map of Orissa. Bullock was the ancient means of transport and communication. This festival is celebrated to commemorate the old heritage and to realize the importance of bullock in rural economy and agrarian society.

During Dussehra, the bullocks are decorated with ornaments, beads, bells, and colorful velvet saddles, and brought out in a grand procession. Various competitions of the bulls are conducted and prizes are awarded to the owners.
