Hemkund Lake




Hemkund Lake, also known as Lokpal Lake, is located five kilometer from Ghangaria in Chamoli District of Uttaranchal. Situated at an altitude of about 4,329 m above the sea level, this beautiful lake is two kilometer in circumference. The rock-covered shores of the lake are covered with moss and flowering plants. Hemkund Sahib and Lakshman Temple are located near the lake. Best season to visit this lake is between July and October. Jolly Grant Airport is 307 km away and the nearest railway station is at Rishikesh (293 km).
