Jaunpur District




Jaunpur District of Varanasi division lies on the eastern side of Uttar Pradesh. It is bordered by Ghazipur District and Azamgarh District in the east, Pratapgarh District and Allahabad District in the west, Sultanpur District in the north, and Mirzapur District, Varanasi District and Sant Ravidas Nagar Bhadohi District in the south. Jaunpur has an area of 4,038 sq km. The Gomati, Sai, Basuhi, Pili, Gangi, Mamuri and Varuna are the important rivers.

Jaunpur is famous for its dripping sweet spiral pancakes called imartees. Perfume industries are also found here. The district headquarters, Jaunpur is situated around 60 km away from Varanasi.
