Chandpur




Chandpur is a prominent town situated 34 km south of Bijnor, in Bijnor District. Its location is to the south-central part of the district on the state highway connecting Bijnor and Dhanaura. The town has well paved roads and is well drained.

Early history of Chandpur is uncertain. When the district formed a part of the Delhi Empire under the reign of Akbar, it became a chief town. It was also held by the Pindaris in 1805 and by Muslim rebels in 1857.

Chandpur Railway Station falls on the rail route between Bijnor and Gajraula. Nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport.
