Swamimalai




Situated 5 km west of Kumbakonam on the banks of a tributary of river Kavery, Swamimalai is a sylvan town. It is well known for the famous Swamimalai Temple, located in the heart of the city and very close to Tiruvalanchuzhi temple. The best time to visit is during the Skanda Shashti, held in the month of October.

Accommodation is available in hotels and self catering apartments. The town is surrounded by tourist spots such as Kumbakonam, Tiruvidaimarutur, Mayiladuthurai, Papanasam, and Thanjavur.

Swamimalai is a railway station on the main line from Chennai to Tiruchirapalli.
