Kamshet




Kamshet is a fascinating hill station located in the Western Ghats, along the Mumbai-Pune highway, in Pune District, Maharashtra. It is situated on an ancient trade route which once linked the west coast to the hinterland. The hills along the route are dotted with ancient cave temples, medieval hill fortresses and colonial hill stations. Kamshet is 16 km east of Lonavala.

Kamshet, situated at an altitude of 2200 ft above sea level, is one of the much sought after Paragliding destination in Maharashtra. It is an ideal spot for paragliding, cross country flights, tandem flights and joy rides. Best time for gliding is from October to June.

With its rugged hills, lush fields and serene lakes, Kamshet is also a perfect picnic spot for non-gliders.

The historic Bhaja Caves and Bedsa Caves are located nearby.

By road, Kamshet is about 60 km from Pune and 110 km from Mumbai. Regular state transport buses are available from Pune to Kamshet. Kamshet has a railway station.
