Igatpuri is located in Nasik District and is 135 km north-east of Mumbai. It is one of the most interesting and challenging regions of the Sahyadris.

Located at an altitude of 1,900 ft above the sea level, the place is cooler and quieter. The sharp rocky features, cascading waterfalls and remotely placed hill forts are the specialty of this region. Its highest peaks posses a challenge to any rock climber. Dhamma Giri, the first Vipassana center in India, is situated in the town of Igatpuri. During the rainy season, Igatpuri is at its zenith of beauty. Everything wears a washed, green look and the waterfalls are at their majestic best.

Nearby attractions are Gatandevi Mandir, Bhatsa River Valley, Camel Valley and Tringalwadi Fort.

Igatpuri Railway Station is on the on the Mumbai-Nasik railway route. National Highway 3 passes through Igatpuri.
