Guru Gobind Singh




The tenth and last guru of the Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh, born on December 22, 1666, was a leader of firm spiritual principles. Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh guru, and Gujari were his parents.

Guruji was a saint-soldier who fought several battles against ruthless Muslim rulers and hill chiefs. In one of the battles, he lost all his four sons.

Guruji took great effort in the development of art and learning among the Sikhs. He also trained them in the use of arms. Apart from these, he cultivated the essence of love for caste and community in people.

An eminent writer as well as poet, Guruji's renowned literary works include Dasam Granth and Chandi Di Var (ballet). He is also credited with the compilation of the final version of the 'Adi Granth.'

Guruji was murdered by a Muslim Pathan on October 7, 1708.
