Jhabua District is located in the western part of
Madhya Pradesh. It is bordered by
Panchmahals and
Vadodara districts of
Gujarat,
Banswara District of
Rajasthan and
Dhar and
Ratlam districts of Madhya Pradesh. The total area is 6,782 sq km. The tribes are the
Bhils and
Bhilalas.
Jhabua is famous for its tribal handicrafts such as bamboo products, dolls, bead-jewellery and other items made by women. The bow and arrow carried by the men known as 'Teer-Kamthi', is their symbol of chivalry and self defence.
Jhabua has a moderate climate. The average rainfall is about 800 mm. The
Narmada is the largest river. The main tourist villages are
Bhabhara,
Deojhiri, Kathiwara, Lakhmani Gram,
Malwai, and
Amkhut.
