Nemom




Nemom, situated at the edge of the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation limits, is a thickly populated region, 7 km east of Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station, in Kerala. Situated on the National Highway 47, this small settlement lies between Pappanamcode and Pravachambalam. With the vast expanses of green vegetation, beautiful ponds and canals, the place is noted for its calm and serene atmosphere.

Major point of attraction here is the ancient Sree Mahadeva Temple and Ganapathi Temple. Merry Land Studio, the second film studio in Kerala, situated here is a major draw. Vellayani, a picturesque village, is just 2 km from here. Other tourist places in and around Nemom include, Jama Masjid, Vellayani Devi Temple, Sree Krishna Swami Temple (2 km), Vellayani Lake and Daksha Sheth Dance Company (6 km) and Karakkamandapam Shri Shiva Temple.

Victory Boys High School, Victory Girls High School and Homeo College are some of the educational institutions in Nemom. Santhivila Hospital in Nemom is a government owned hospital, which provides its services to more than 6 villages in the vicinity.

Nemom is about 15 km from the Trivandrum International Airport. Nemom Railway Station is on the Thiruvananthapuram-Kanyakumari line. Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station is the major railhead nearby. The place can be reached easily from Thiruvananthapuram Central Bus Station (7 km).
