Surathkal




Noted for its educational institutions and industries, Surathkal is a coastal town located 20 km north of Mangalore. The close proximity to Mangalore and the geographic advantage provided by Arabian Sea has made it one of the fast developing town in Dakshina Kannada District.

National Institute of Technology (NIT), Karnataka Regional Engineering College and Mangalore Refineries and Petro Chemicals Ltd are situated here. The famous Surathkal Beach, Sadashiva Temple and Surathkal Lighthouse are the major tourist attractions.

Mangalore Airport, also known as Bajpe airport, is the nearest airport. Kankanadi Railway Station is the nearest major railway station. Surathkal Railway Station is on the Kankanadi-Ud line of Konkan Railways. Regular taxis and buses are available from Surathkal to Mangalore town. National Highway 17 has its route through Surathkal.
