Donigal

Donigal is a picturesque village located on the Bangalore-Mangalore Highway, near Sakleshpur in Dakshin Kannada District. The area is very famous for trekking through an abandoned meter gauge railway line between stations Donigal and Yedukumeri. From the village, Yedakumeri is about 5-6 hrs walk along the track, which provides one with the panoramic view and the beauty of the surrounding hills and freshness of the trekking experience. On the way, there are many bridges and tunnels, which are surprisingly in good condition even after long years of neglect.

Donigal can be reached from Bangalore, which is approximately 225 km away. From Bangalore it is possible to catch a bus that goes towards Mangalore or Dharmasthala and get down at Donigal railway station.
