Koppal




Koppal is the seat of administration of Koppal District, in Karnataka. It is a prominent center for agricultural trade in the district. Koppal is situated 306 km north of Bangalore.

Places of tourist interest include Anegundi and Navabrindavana. The hillock of Gavimath commands an excellent view of the surrounding landscape. Two Ashoka edicts found here heralds a lot of historical importance and hence is a favorite ground for historians and research scholars. Kanakagiri, Kuknur and Hampi constitute interesting excursions outside the town.

Nearest airport is at Bangalore. Koppal Railway Station is linked with Bellary, Gadag, Gulbarga and Davangere. National Highway 63 passes through Koppal. By road, Koppal has connections with Bangalore, Tumkur, Haveri, Raichur and Hassan.
