Hombuja




Hombuja, a small village in Shimoga District, is the erstwhile capital of Santara Dynasty. This dynasty ruled here for over 1000 years uninterrupted. 60 km away from Shimoga city, this picturesque village is surrounded by many historical monuments. It has a very old Jain temple dedicated to Lord Parshwanathji and Divine Mother Padmawati Deviji. Nearby is the tree of Lakky that is as old as the temple. The other historical monuments are Padmavati Mandira, Panchakoota Basadi, the Pearl Pond, silver temple cart, and elephant shed.

Nearest railway station is at Shimoga. Bus services are available from Shimoga and Udupi.
